On the March 20th show, we will be discussing urban water issues in recognition of International Water Day (March 22), including governance, infrastructure, and sustainability. My guests are Sara Mohammad-Pour, a UBC Civil Engineering graduate student, and Joshua Welsh, a graduate candidate for Masters of Advanced Studies in Landscape Architecture at UBC. Both my guests are involved in local water issues.
There will also be coverage of the March 19th rally against the renoviction of tenants at a previously non-profit and BC Housing-subsidized site in Mount Pleasant (577 E 8th). The site was built by The Voice of the Cerebral Palsied of Greater Vancouver in 1982 and was sold to a private property management company for less than the assessed market value. The remaining tenants have been served eviction notices by the current private property management company for April 30th for what they argue are unnecessary and purposefully disruptive renovations in order to evict them and raise the rents.
Tune in at 5pm and call in with your questions or comments.
